KYC and Verification

Why We Verify Your Identity

At Spinko, maintaining a secure, fair, and responsible gaming environment is paramount. Identity verification is a critical component of this commitment. By confirming your identity, we can protect your account from unauthorised access, prevent fraud, and ensure that all players meet the legal age requirements for online gambling. This process also helps us comply with strict regulatory obligations imposed by our licensing authority, ensuring Spinko operates with integrity and transparency. Your safety and the security of your funds are our top priorities, and verification is a key mechanism to uphold these standards.

What KYC (Know Your Customer) Means

KYC, or Know Your Customer, refers to the mandatory process of identifying and verifying the identity of our customers. This is a standard procedure across regulated financial services and online gaming industries worldwide. For Spinko, KYC involves collecting and reviewing specific documentation from you to confirm who you are, where you live, and that the payment methods you use belong to you. This process is not merely a formality, it is a fundamental requirement designed to combat financial crime, such as money laundering and terrorist financing, and to protect both our platform and our players from illicit activities.

When Verification Is Required

Identity verification may be requested at several points during your relationship with Spinko:

  • Upon Registration: While you may be able to register an account and make an initial deposit, full verification is often initiated shortly after, especially before your first withdrawal.
  • Before Your First Withdrawal: To comply with anti-money laundering regulations and to protect your funds, we typically require full verification before processing any payout requests.
  • When Reaching Specific Thresholds: Our licensing obligations mandate verification once your deposits or withdrawals reach certain cumulative amounts, even if you have undergone initial verification.
  • Suspicious Activity: If our security systems detect unusual or suspicious activity on your account, we may request further verification to protect your account and investigate potential fraud.
  • Periodic Reviews: We may conduct periodic reviews of customer information to ensure the data we hold remains accurate and up-to-date.
  • Changes in Account Information: If you update critical personal details, we might ask for re-verification to confirm the changes.

Documents You May Be Asked to Provide

To complete the verification process, Spinko may request various documents. These are generally categorised into proof of identity, proof of address, and proof of payment method. All documents must be clear, legible, valid, and show all four corners. We cannot accept expired documents. Please ensure that no part of the document is obscured or cropped.

Proof of Identity

To confirm your identity, we require a clear, colour copy of one of the following valid government-issued photo identification documents:

  • Passport: The photo page, ensuring the machine-readable zone is visible.
  • National ID Card: Both the front and back of the card.
  • Driver's Licence: Both the front and back of the card.

The document must clearly show your full name, date of birth, photograph, signature, and the document's expiry date. The name on your ID must match the name registered on your Spinko account.

Proof of Address

To verify your residential address, we require a clear copy of a document issued within the last three months that displays your full name and current residential address. Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility bill (electricity, water, gas, landline telephone, internet, but not mobile phone bills).
  • Bank statement or credit card statement.
  • Government-issued tax statement or council tax bill.
  • Official letter from a recognised public authority.

The name and address on the document must match the details registered on your Spinko account. We cannot accept documents that are older than three months from the date of submission.

Payment Method Verification

To ensure the payment methods used on your Spinko account belong to you and to prevent unauthorised transactions, we may ask for verification of your deposit and withdrawal methods. The specific requirements depend on the payment method used:

  • Credit/Debit Cards: A clear photo of the front of the card, showing the first six and last four digits of the card number (e.g., 1234 56XX XXXX 1234). The middle eight digits and the CVV/CVC code on the back should be obscured for your security. Your name and the card's expiry date must be visible.
  • E-Wallets (e.g., Skrill, Neteller, PayPal): A screenshot of your e-wallet account profile page, clearly showing your full name, email address, and the account ID or number. The screenshot should be taken directly from the e-wallet provider's website or app.
  • Bank Transfers: A copy of a recent bank statement (dated within the last three months) showing your name, bank logo, account number, and recent transactions. You may obscure transaction details not relevant to Spinko deposits or withdrawals.

The name on the payment method must match the name registered on your Spinko account. Third-party payments are strictly prohibited.

Source of Funds and Enhanced Due Diligence

In certain circumstances, particularly when transactions involve significant amounts, or if our risk assessment tools indicate a higher risk, Spinko may be required to conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD). This includes requesting information and documentation regarding your Source of Funds (SoF) or Source of Wealth (SoW). This is a regulatory requirement designed to prevent money laundering and ensure that funds used for gambling activities are legitimately obtained. Examples of documents that may be requested include:

  • Bank statements showing salary or business income.
  • Payslips or employment contracts.
  • Tax returns.
  • Proof of inheritance.
  • Documentation related to property sales or other significant financial transactions.

All information provided for SoF/SoW verification will be treated with the utmost confidentiality and used solely for compliance purposes.

The Verification Process and Timeframes

Once you submit your documents through our secure portal, our dedicated verification team will review them. We aim to process all verification requests as quickly as possible. Typically, standard verification is completed within 24-48 hours. However, during peak periods or if additional information is required, the process may take longer. You will be notified via email or through your Spinko account messages regarding the status of your verification. If your documents are unclear, incomplete, or if further information is needed, we will contact you with specific instructions.

Keeping Your Documents Safe

Spinko is committed to protecting your personal data and documents. All information and documents you provide are stored securely in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other relevant data protection laws. We use advanced encryption technologies and strict access controls to safeguard your data from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Your documents are only accessible by authorised personnel involved in the verification process and are never shared with third parties unless legally required by our licensing authority or law enforcement agencies.

Anti-Money Laundering Compliance

As a regulated online casino, Spinko operates under stringent Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and regulations. Our KYC and verification procedures are fundamental to our AML framework. We are legally obligated to monitor transactions and report any suspicious activity to the relevant authorities. This commitment helps us prevent our platform from being used for illegal activities, contributing to a safer global financial system. By verifying your identity, you are helping Spinko fulfil these critical responsibilities.

Age Verification and Protecting Minors

One of the most crucial aspects of our verification process is age verification. It is illegal for individuals under the age of 18 (or the legal age of majority in their jurisdiction, if higher) to gamble. Spinko takes its responsibility to protect minors very seriously. Our verification procedures are designed to confirm that all our players are of legal gambling age. Any account found to belong to a minor will be immediately closed, and any winnings confiscated. We encourage parents and guardians to use filtering software to prevent minors from accessing gambling sites.

If Verification Is Delayed or Unsuccessful

If there is a delay in your verification, it often means we require further clarification or additional documents. We will contact you directly to explain the reason for the delay and provide instructions on what is needed. If verification is ultimately unsuccessful, for instance, if we cannot confirm your identity or if documents are deemed fraudulent, your account may be suspended or closed. We will always communicate the reasons for such actions, subject to legal and regulatory constraints. Our goal is to work with you to complete verification successfully, provided all requirements are met.
